Two vehicles shot with pellet guns at Possum Run Walmart

MANSFIELD - A 19-year-old Georgia man was issued summonses for criminal trespass and littering after a Wednesday afternoon incident at Walmart in which two vehicles were shot with pellet guns.

Lenny D. Brown was issued the summonses and taken to Richland County Jail after police talked to him at the store.

Police were called a little after 4 p.m. about a possible criminal damaging. Edwin P. Przybylowicz, 84, of Webster, New York, told police he was driving past Walmart when he heard multiple loud bangs against his vehicle. He got out to see multiple chips and dents on the side of the car.

Gerald M. Vance, 69, said he saw an unknown man run from the woods, heading east. He said he also found multiple chips and dents in the right passenger side of his vehicle. The rear right window was shot out.

Police searched the woods and found a tent with a large quantity of trash around it. They recovered a pellet gun pistol beside a tree.

They reported finding boxes for another pellet gun. Police said the tent was open. Inside, they found two more pellet guns, along with two knives, a laptop, a drone, a box of pellets and a box of ammunition. Police collected the items and submitted them to the crime lab.

A short time later, Brown called police to see if he could get his property back. He said he was not at the tent when the pellet guns were fired. Brown claimed he was "downtown" all day and returned to find the items missing.

He said two other individuals were staying with him in the tent, but he did not know their names. Brown admitted he did not have permission to stay on the property and admitted the trash was left by him and the other two people, police said.
