On line retail giant Amazon.com is getting ready to break another record this Cyber Monday, which begins at 5pm PT, Sunday, Nov. 26. For Voice Shoppers, using Amazon’s device Alexa, that is.
This year, Amazon’s record maybe challenged by Walmart, which has got its online business strategy right lately.
In 2016, Amazon shoppers ordered more than 64 million items around the globe – a record-breaking 740 items per second, and customers worldwide ordered roughly 36 toys per second on mobile devices alone!
This year the record may be broken on TVs. Cyber Monday is the best time to buy electronics like TVs.
That’s according to a Consumer Reports and Gap Intelligence survey. The average price of TVs on Cyber Monday was $329 lower than the highest price in 2016 and $45 below that of Black Friday, according to the same survey.
Amazon has plenty of deals for bargain hunters. Like a Sony 55-inch 4K UHD smart TV, only $598, and a LG Electronics OLED55C7P 55-inch 4K smart UHD TV—see table.

Amazon has been trying to fend off a growing challenge from traditional retailers that have been leveraging their physical presence to provide shoppers both bargain price and shopping experience.
One of those traditional retailers is Walmart, which has been “turning the tables” against Amazon by setting store prices that are lower than online prices for some items.
Company/index | Operating Margins | Qtrly Revenue Growth |
Wal-Mart | 4.60% | 2.10% |
Amazon | 2.31 | 24.80 |
