Produce at Meijer, Trader Joe's, Walmart recalled for possible listeria contamination

Numerous vegetable products bought at supermarkets including Meijer, Trader Joes and Walmart in Kentucky and Indiana have been recalled because they may be contaminated, according to the Food and Drug Administration. 

Mann Packing of Salinas, California recalled nearly 100 products because they could be contaminated with listeria monocytogenes, a bacteria that causes weakened immune systems or fatal infections in young children and frail adults. So far, no illnesses have been reported from the products, according to the FDA. 

The recalled products, sold at retailers ranging from Walmart to Trader Joe's, were distributed throughout the United States and Canada with expiration dates from October 11 to October 20 on the packaging.

Meijer also uses Mann Packing. Products from their stores in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky and Wisconsin purchased between Sept. 27 through Oct. 20, are also affected, according to an another FDA release.  

Consumers who have purchased any of the recalled products are urged to discard them or return them for a refund. Customers can also contact Mann Packing at 888-470-2681 or Meijer at 800-543-3704.
