UNION -- A violent brawl over the weekend between two couples at a local Walmart was captured on video showing punches being exchanged as children watched and attempted to intervene.
The video appears to show the two couples fighting Saturday near the jewelry section in the store on Springfield Road in Union. A Walmart spokesman confirmed the day and location of the store to NJ Advance Media on Monday.
The two men can be seen exchanging blows as the two women brawl at the same time. A third woman can be seen attempting to break up the fight between the two women with two young children also trying to intervene.
Dozens of customers looked on at the ensuing chaos with some trying to separate the brawling men and women.
Walmart employees also tried to bring the fight to a stop. It is unclear what caused the dispute.
"We cannot definitively say why the fight broke out," Walmart spokesman Charles Crowson told NJ Advance Media.
He said the "group scattered so quickly" that police were ultimately not called.
